Lift vehicle using suitable equipment and safety precautions before installing replacement CV Drive Axle. Check condition of engine and transmission mounts for damage before installing replacement CV Drive axle. Check condition of suspension and steering components before installing replacement CV Drive axle. Correct or repair any pre-existing suspension damage or chassis sub frame alignment issues before installing the replacement CV Drive Axle. If the drive train has shifted to one side, the axle might pull out while turning, resulting in catastrophic axle failure. Compare the original and replacement units. Ensure the splines and overall compressed length match the original. Make every effort to prevent debris from contacting operating surfaces or entering bearings. Protect seal surfaces during CV Drive Axle installation. Be sure to replace any damaged fasteners with components of equal or better quality. Be sure to use, as applicable, OE approved fluids, lubricants, adhesives or sealants as specified by the vehicle service manual. If both CV Drive Axles are being replaced, complete the removal and installation on one side before removing the second side. This is very important on some applications such as Fords. Removing both CV Drive Axles may cause the differential gears to become dislocated, requiring disassembly of the transaxle for reassembling of gears. Never over-extend or over-angle a CV Drive Axle joint, as this will cause damage. Keep outer end supported while servicing the inner end of the assembly. Vehicle splines and installation surfaces must be clean. Lubricate CV splines to assist installation. Apply a thin film of grease to CV oil seal contact surfaces. Before operating the vehicle, check transmission lubricant level, refill with correct lubricant as needed. Lubricated Joints;Puncture-Resistant Boots. OE Spec or Performance/Custom. ATV & SxS UTV.
