Our BEST windshield has all the bells and whistles and is made of Mar-Resistant MR10 Lexan. Here are the main features of each windshield. The full product details are: ¼ Mar-Resitant (MR10) LEXAN- The upper windshield section is made of MR10 mar-resistant polycarbonate that combines the impact strength of LEXAN polycarbonate sheets with a proprietary abrasion and UV-resistant MARGARD® II surface. It is warranted against yellowing, breakage, coating failure and loss of light transmission and offers improved resistance to weathering. ¼ Lexan will not bow at high speeds or when hauling as compared to 3/16 Lexan. The lower windshield section is made of 9034 Lexan. Additional attributes of MR10 Lexan are: o 250 times the impact strength of glass o Excellent light transmission o Excellent sound abatement properties o Superior insulating properties QUICK CONNECT CLAMPS- Made of powder coated steel, these 2-piece clamps make installation a breeze. The 2 pieces mount together on the roll cage. The windshield connects to the clamps with a knob bolt and washer inserted thru the windshield and into the clamp. Once in place, the windshield can be removed quickly by simply removing the knob bolts. The clamps stay in place. Each windshield section can be removed or re-installed in less than a minute. 2 PIECE DESIGN -Each windshield section mounts independently of the other. This allows the rider the option of riding with both sections on or just the top or bottom on when more air in the cab is desired. DUAL VENTS -Weve upgraded all of our windshields to include dual vents on the bottom windshield section. A line of vent openings have been cut in front of the driver and passenger. The vents open and close by sliding the vent covers from side to side. AUTOMOTIVE TRIM -The bottom and sides of the bottom windshield section and the sides of the top section have a flexible PVC edge trim installed. The trim on the bottom of the lower section includes a flexible bubble to better seal any gaps between the windshield and hood line. BENDS – A ll of our 2 piece windshields have bends for design purposes or to add strength to the windshield. At the top of the lower section, the windshield contains a bend of approximately 60 degrees. At the bottom of the upper section, the windshield contains two bends; one out and one down. This allows the bends in the upper section to mount over the bend in the bottom section. Please see the listing photos showing these bends. An additional bend is designed at the top of the upper section. This bend strengthens the Lexan and provides more stability at high speeds or while towing. Your windshield may contain additional bends if needed to contour to the vehicles cab frame. The top of the windshield stops just below the front cross bar. The windshield should not interfere with your hard top. COLOR -The windshield is manufactured using clear Lexan. Tinted Lexan is available at additional cost. Frequently Asked Questions What if I don’t want a vented windshield? A solid windshield is still available. Just send us a note when purchasing. How should I clean the windshield? Hose off any excess dirt and mud before cleaning. Gently wash the windshield with a solution of mild soap and lukewarm water, using a soft, grid-free cloth or sponge. Can I haul my UTV with the windshield on? Trailering your UTV with the windshield on is not a problem. Weve hauled UTVs with our windshields on, up and down the interstate. Just obey the speed limit and you shouldnt have any problems. Can I install a windshield wiper on my windshield? Windshield wipers can be used on MR10 Lexan. However, over time, even the MR10 can be scratched from the constant rub of a windshield wiper. Do you make a flip windshield? We do not manufacture a flip windshield. Frankly, we havent found a hinge mechanism short of a heavy steel piano hinge that will last. Some of the hinges we see out there are made of plastic and are used in the golf cart business. After about a year of bending, they begin to crack. Thats just not good enough for us. If airflow into the cab is needed, the Dual Vents work great. If you prefer to remove a section of the windshield, the 2 piece independent design makes that possible. Can I access the storage area under the hood? The lower section of windshield has to be removed to access the storage area. However, the Quick Connect Clamps on the BETTER and BEST models make it a breeze. Simply remove the knob bolts and the section comes off. We do make one-piece windshields. Is the windshield street legal? Our windshields are DOT approved. The DOT stamp can be found near the bottom of the windshield. Some communities are now allowing the use of UTVs. Local laws and ordinances should be followed when riding.
